Athletics

St. Joseph Regional Catholic School offers a variety of athletic opportunities for students. Students can begin playing  basketball in 3rd grade for boys and 4th grade for girls. Girls cheerleading starts in 3rd grade and continues through 8th grade. Athletic opportunities also include cross-country, volleyball and tennis which are added as students mature. Younger St Joseph compete in the Florence Independent League. Seventh and eighth grade athletics compete as part of the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

St. Joseph Athletics teaches students good sportsmanship as well as basic athletic skills. Informational meetings about each sport are held at the beginning of that season. 

Cross-Country

The athletics program at St. Joseph Catholic School offers cross country for the 7th and 8th boys and girls. St. Joseph is a member of the AHSAA and follows its guidelines. Practices start the first week of school and season meets are in September through October. Many of the meets are on weekends. Students are encouraged to begin training in the summer in preparation for the season.

Volleyball

The athletics program at St. Joseph Catholic School offers volleyball for the 7th and 8th grade girls. St. Joseph is a member of the AHSAA and follows its guidelines. Practices start the first week of school and the season is from the end of August to the beginning of October. St. Joseph also offers a volleyball camp in the summer time for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls.

Basketball

St. Joseph offers two different basketball leagues: elementary and the 7th-8th grade teams for boys and girls. Click on the left links for individual information about the two leagues.

Elementary Basketball

The athletics program at St. Joseph offers basketball for 3rd through 6th grade boys and for 4th through 6th grade girls. St. Joseph is a member of the Florence Independent League, which is a recreation level. Practices start in October, and the season ends in December with a tournament. 

7th-8th Grade Basketball

The athletics program at St. Joseph Catholic School offers basketball for the 7th and 8th grade boys and girls who will compete as part of the AHSAA and follows its guidelines. Practices begin the first of October and the season ends in December.

Cheerleading

The athletics program at St. Joseph Catholic School offers cheerleading for the 3rd through 6th grade girls. There are two teams of girls: The White team consists of the 3rd-4th grade girls and the Red team includes the 5th-6th grade girls. Practices begin in October with the girls cheering at youth games.  Their season ends in December; however, the cheerleaders also participate in several extra events throughout the year – such as the Florence Christmas Parade and all SJS Pep Rallies

Tennis

The athletics program at St. Joseph Catholic School offers tennis for the 7th and 8th grade. St. Joseph is a member of the AHSAA and follows the guidelines. Practice begins at the end of January with the first match at the end of February. The season concludes in April.
