Student Life
There are a number of activities available for students to participate in at St. Joseph Catholic School. The following is a list of just some of the opportunities available for our students:
 
ACTIVE LIFESTYLE PROGRAM
A national program created to get students more active. The goal is for students to meet a daily activity goal everyday for six weeks.
 
ALTAR SERVERS
     Membership is open to Catholic boys and girls, in third through eighth grades.
 
CHORUS
Junior High Choir: Membership is open to students in sixth through eighth grades.
Elementary Choir: Membership is open to students in second through fifth grades.
 
HOLY CHILDHOOD ASSOCIATION
     Membership is open to all students Pre-K through eighth grades. The purpose is to pray for and contribute to the needs of children in poverty all over the world.
 
HONOR ROLL
     Membership is open to students in grades fourth through eighth who maintain an A/B average in all subjects (including Spanish) and an 84 percent or higher in conduct.
 
MUSICIANS FOR LITURGY
    Membership is open to girls and boys who have enough music training and skill to play for the daily liturgies and are approved by the school liturgist.
 
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY BEE
Membership is open for participation by students in grades fourth through eighth.
 
NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
     Membership is open to students in seventh and eighth grades who maintain a 93% cumulative average in every subject, including Spanish (Advanced Math is weighted) and 84 percent or higher in conduct, and who demonstrate responsibility and service to others.
 
PRESIDENT’S CHALLENGE: PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST
A national program open to those ages six and up. The students participate in five activities, and then, there results are compared to the national average to determine possible awards.
 
PRESIDENT’S EDUCATION AWARDS
     Membership is open to motivated eighth grade students who can accept the high level challenge to meet the requirements.
 
SAFETY PATROL
Membership is from students in the seventh grade. The safety patrol assists for ten minutes during the daily dismissal.
 
SCHOLAR’S BOWL
Membership is open to students in grades 7th and 8th who have a desire to compete against other schools answering challenging questions. Students practice during lunchtime.
 
SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Membership is open to students in grades 6th through 8th who have an interest in competing against other schools to complete different scientific tasks.
 
SCOUTS
The program is handled through the church office.
 
SPELLING BEE
Membership is open for participation by students in third through eighth grades.
 
STUDENT COUNCIL
Officers are elected from students in grades sixth through eighth grades.
  
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM
     A Program sponsored by Duke University. Participation is open to qualifying fourth and seventh grade students and is based on standardized test scores.
