ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL STUDENTS COMPETE IN KIWANIS CLUB ESSAY CONTEST
This month, the seventh and eighth grade students at St. Joseph School submitted non-fiction explanatory essays about bullying to the local chapter of the Kiwanis Club. The Kiwanis Club’s purpose is to promote positive community outreach opportunities and work to instill a sense of pride of country and city in each citizen. Once winners and honorable mentions had been determined for a poster contest for elementary students and essay contest for junior high and high school students, the Kiwanis Club members invited them to be guests at a special luncheon honoring their achievements. Certificates, ribbons, and a monetary award were given to the first, second, and third place winners in each category. Each student had the opportunity to read his or her essay aloud at the luncheon for the Kiwanis Club audience. The faculty, staff, and peers of St. Joseph School are very proud of those who did so well. We felt honored to take every place in both junior high divisions.
